Remarkably original, enjoyable read and well-written sci-fi novel

This is a remarkably enjoyable read and well written si-fi novel! I bought several copies for my kids and grand kids, after reading my own copy. An intergalactic adventure story, it focuses on the struggles, successes, challenges and life-threatening dangers facing alien protagonists. You follow them from their humble origins, through dramatic changes ultimately leading them off world, even out of their galaxy. Earth plays a key role in the intergalactic travel. I can't wait for the movie to come out. But like some movies, best to read the book first.
